v0.2.57Managed setup, Apps, projects, and files

gugu for Android release notes

Major version updates to gugu for Android.

Oct 21, 2026v0.2.57

Phone data, Apps, and file collaboration

Permission-based phone data, improved Apps and folders, and smoother scrolling and saving.

Gugu assistant on your phone

Reorganized setup and assistant settings. Conversations, projects, and tasks on your other devices connect more smoothly, with clearer task state and streaming replies. Always-online cloud features follow the availability of your environment.

Find Apps and files

The App market adds featured Apps, categories, and an installed view. Supported Apps can open on phones. Chat folders support subfolders and moving files, with recent files, search across conversations, and references to specific locations. Open .xlsx files to collaborate on spreadsheet edits with an agent.

Phone data with permission

Read supported SMS messages, recordings, and photos after granting the corresponding system permissions.

Other improvements

  • Expanding tools preserves your scroll position; automatic following resumes at the bottom.
  • Save files through the system's save-location picker.
  • Machine-approval links can open directly in Gugu.
  • Updated attachment uploads, forwards, and agent file access.
  • Clearer tool images, file cards, App pages, and task state.
  • Removed unnecessary font and editor resources from the package.

Platform models now have a backup route to improve availability when an upstream provider runs out of capacity.

Updating

The way group files are written has changed. Update the devices you use for file collaboration to 0.2.57.

Animated bird avatars, and decks you can edit from your phone

Agents now have an animated Gugu bird as their avatar, each with its own color and face. Decks in the group folder open on your phone too, where you can pick what should change and hand it to an agent. Answered question cards stay where they were asked, and opening a running task no longer flickers.

Agents get an animated bird

Agents without a photo now have an animated Gugu bird as their avatar. Each one has its own color and face, your agents avoid sharing a color where possible, and the bird is the same on your phone and your computer. Its body shows what it is doing: three dots hop while it works, it stretches into a "!" when it needs your approval or an answer, it slumps into a puddle on an error and bounces when it's done. On Look in the agent's settings you can change its color and face, or shuffle one, and nothing is saved until you tap That's the one. In a direct chat with an agent, the bird in the middle of the header is bigger too. Agents with a photo keep their photo.

Edit decks in the group folder

The group Workspace is now called Group folder, and Folder in direct chats. Open a .pptx there and the new Gugu Office draws every slide: tap to pick a spot, hold still for a moment and then drag to box an area, then tap Put in composer and @ an agent. What the agent saves is the next version of the same file, with everything you didn't ask it to touch left as it was; if you aren't picking anything at that moment, the open deck switches to the new version on its own.

Question cards stay put, and tasks open without flicker

Once you answer an agent's question, its card stays on the line where it was asked, with later messages below it, and it is still there after you leave and come back or restart Gugu. Questions answered in a terminal on your computer show up in place as "Already answered elsewhere". Opening a task that is running shows all of it at once, without a blank flash or a jump upwards.

Also improved

  • A failure is reported once, with the reason: a model that needs a membership, a model that isn't available right now, credits that ran out or an expired login each get one sentence on what to do next, instead of a raw English error. When a model isn't available, switch models in the same task and send again; no need to start a new task.
  • When an agent changes a file in the group folder, it saves a new version of the same file instead of adding another file with the same name. If two agents change the same file one after the other, the second one has to fetch the latest version first, so it can't wipe out the first one's changes.
  • If you signed out elsewhere or changed your password, opening Gugu takes you straight to the sign-in page instead of showing "Can't reach the server right now" indefinitely, and starting up before sign-in has finished no longer shows "Could not restore the opening task".

Remote SSH machines on your phone, and a smoother task page

Machines added through Remote SSH now show up on your phone, where you can start tasks on them. The task page no longer jumps or jitters and responds the moment you send. Models follow your membership tier.

Remote SSH machines on your phone

Machines added through Remote SSH now show up on your phone, and you can start tasks on them there.

A smoother task page

Scrolling no longer jumps and text no longer jitters as messages arrive; send a message and you see "Working…" with a timer right away. Questions from Codex and OpenCode in Code mode can be answered right on your phone.

Models follow your membership tier

The model list only shows the models your tier can use: the free tier includes a few low-cost models and a membership unlocks all of them, and Upgrade to unlock more models at the bottom shows what a membership adds. If your membership ends, your tasks stay put, so switch models and keep going.

Also improved

  • Search on the chats, contacts, group members and topic history pages is now a magnifier in the header.
  • Child tasks on another computer sit under their parent and show which computer they are on.
  • When a computer restarts or reconnects, your phone reconnects right away instead of waiting.
  • The new-task options drawer stays open after you pick an option, and scrolls as a whole on short screens.
  • Delete in the action sheet is now Archive.
  • Returning from the system file picker, the first attachment upload no longer fails.
  • After the app goes to the background or the network changes, chats catch up on their own.
  • After you change your avatar, you see the new one too.
  • Swiping between the bottom tabs, the tab icons light up as your finger moves.
  • About shows download progress for a new version.

Before you update: this version and 0.2.52 cannot connect to each other, so update your phone and computers together.

Private chats get a workspace, and watching sessions on the phone is smoother

Private chats now have a workspace and Apps of their own: tap Workspace in a private chat's header to open the same copy you see on the computer, and Apps with a page of their own that are shared in groups or private chats can now be installed and opened on the phone. Select text in the workspace and you can cite it into the composer, to send yourself. When you watch sessions from your computer, a card waiting for your answer scrolls with the messages and is still there when you come back; the summary left by compaction no longer shows up as something you said; a message sent while the agent is busy is still there after you leave and return; and tool cards no longer cut names short; picking several images at once now uploads them all. A few sheets that did not fit on screen can now be scrolled and reached.

Apps

  • Added: private chats have a workspace of their own: a private chat's header has a Workspace button with that chat's own cloud files, the same copy you see on the computer. Apps can be installed and opened in private chats too, and an agent can build an App in a private chat and post the card right there.
  • Improved: an App shared in a group or a private chat can now be installed and opened on the phone, opening in that chat, as long as it has a page of its own and needs only what the phone can do. Before, only Apps that open group files worked on the phone, and other cards said "This App works in tasks — use it on the computer."; now only an App that needs a computer's abilities says "This App needs what only a computer has — use it on the computer."
  • Added: select some text in the workspace and "Copy · Cite" appears beside it, replacing the Copy button that used to sit in the header. Cite puts the text, with a link to the file, into the current chat's composer and folds the App page away; you @ whoever you like and press Send yourself, so what goes out is your own ordinary message.
  • Improved: the workspace file list is now a single list: Recent activity below it is gone; files are ordered by last change, newest first; and each row's second line says who created it and how long ago it changed. "Open with another App", "Rename" and "Delete" sit in a ⋯ at the end of the row, always shown on the phone, and Delete asks for "Confirm delete" in the menu.
  • Note: if you picked "Always use this App" for group files, pick it once more in this version: choose it again under "Open with another App" and tick "Always use this App".
  • Note: Apps written for the old interface cannot be read in this version; their cards in chat say "This App package cannot be read.". To keep using one, ask an agent to rewrite it for the new interface.

Chat

  • Improved: when picking members for a new group chat, People now come first and Agent after, so you no longer scroll past a long list of agents to find people.
  • Improved: when someone asks to join a group that needs approval (for example, on behalf of an agent), the group owner and admins used to see it only after reopening New requests. The red dot on Contacts and the join request under New requests now appear straight away.
  • Fixed: when searching messages in a chat, the matching word sat on a line of its own, splitting one sentence into three lines. It now stays on the same line as the words around it.
  • Fixed: a message starting with "> " (such as a passage cited into the chat, or an agent's reply that opens with a quote) was taken apart into a small quote strip plus the text, and file links in it showed their raw text. It is now shown as Markdown; the composer's own reply quote works as before.
  • Fixed: after opening Group announcement or Group members from group settings, the ← at the top left and the back button went straight back to the chat, skipping group settings. They now return to group settings first, and the next press goes back to the chat.
  • Fixed: with a long bio on a member's profile card, Group role and Remove from group were pushed off the screen where the group owner could not reach them. The whole card can now be scrolled up.
  • Fixed: with a long note on a friend request or a join request, the details did not show who sent it. The avatar, name and Gugu number now stay at the top, the note scrolls in its own box, and the buttons stay at the bottom.
  • Improved: a wide table in chat or in a session now fades at its right edge while there is more to the right, and the fade disappears once you scroll to the end. It is not shown when the system WebView is too old.

Watching sessions on your computer

  • Fixed: a long card waiting for your answer (for example, three questions at once) covered the whole screen, so nothing scrolled and the first question was out of reach. The card now comes after the last message and scrolls with the rest.
  • Fixed: a card waiting for your answer disappeared after you left the session and came back, or reopened Gugu. It is still there now.
  • Fixed: after a Claude Code session was compacted (/compact), a large bubble from you appeared on the phone, holding the summary meant for the model. It is no longer shown.
  • Fixed: in a Work-mode session, a message you sent from the phone while the agent was busy disappeared when you left the session page and came back, and reappeared only once the agent took it. It now stays queued, the same queue the computer shows, and deleting it on the computer removes it from the phone too.
  • Fixed: single line breaks in an agent's reply were swallowed, so a poem written one line per sentence ran together into one paragraph. Line breaks now show as they do on the computer.
  • Fixed: a thinking row expanded for the first time stayed blank until you folded and expanded it again. It now fills in the first time.
  • Fixed: a thinking label was squeezed down to "Th…" by the summary after it. The summary now gives way first when space runs out.
  • Improved: when you expand a turn, its tool calls are listed card by card right away, without another "N tool calls" fold to tap.
  • Fixed: the extra indent and the large blank space above and below thinking rows and the cards for messages sent to the agent are gone.
  • Fixed: tool card names are no longer cut down to things like "r..", and no longer repeated in the grey text after them. An App's tool shows the tool that actually ran, in Codex sessions too, and MCP tools show just the tool name instead of a long prefix.
  • Improved: an MCP call waiting for your approval now has "MCP server · tool" as the card title, with what this call passes in on the line below, so you can see what it is about to do before approving. In Codex sessions the title used to be a long "MCP request from …" line.
  • Fixed: the model drawer could not be scrolled when there were more models than fit on screen, and the Reasoning effort row below was pushed out of it. You can now scroll to the last model, and the drawers for choosing the engine, model and permission mode when creating a session work the same way.
  • Improved: a child session that an agent starts in another project also sits under its parent session, and its row names the project it is in.
  • Fixed: when you picked several images at once for a session on the phone, the attachments were squeezed into thin strips: names, ×, the failure reason and Retry were all hidden, so a failed one could neither be seen nor removed; on a slow connection, several images sent together could all fail. Each attachment now keeps its own width in a row you can swipe sideways, with its × and Retry, and the images upload one after another, so they get through on a slow connection too.

On the phone

  • Fixed: when sharing dozens of files into Gugu from another app, the file list at the top of the Send to page pushed the search box and the chat list off the screen, so you could not choose where to send them. The file list now takes at most 30% of the screen height and scrolls within itself, and text and images shared along with the files are no longer squeezed out.
  • Improved: the settings under Me are now grouped, with a divider between groups, matching the groups on the computer.

Share with WeChat, and the phone's task page matches the computer

Messages can be shared to WeChat and other apps from Forward, and text, images and files from other apps can be sent into Gugu. When you watch sessions from your computer, the session list and the folding of thinking and steps match the computer, the composer takes attachments, and you can answer Claude Code's terminal questions right from the phone. Long-pressing a message opens a bottom sheet, and the back button steps back one layer at a time. Extensions are renamed Apps, and Apps shared in a group can be installed on the phone too.

Sharing with other apps

  • Added: when forwarding messages, the top of the Forward page has "Share to other apps", which sends text, images and files to WeChat and other apps; several selected messages can be shared together. Voice messages and cards cannot be shared.
  • Added: Share in WeChat or another app, or "Open with" → 发送到咕咕 (Send to Gugu) on a file, brings text, images and files into Gugu: pick a chat and the content goes into its composer (text after your draft, files as attachments waiting to be sent), and you press Send when ready. A single file can be up to 100 MB.
  • Note: long-pressing Forward in WeChat to send to Gugu is not possible, because WeChat does not hand that kind of forward to other apps.

Chat

  • Improved: switching back to a chat opens at where you left off, and scrolling up through history no longer jumps now and then.
  • Improved: long-pressing a message now opens a sheet from the bottom: a row of reactions at the top, then Reply and the same actions as the right-click menu on the computer; the back button closes the sheet first. Tapping a message no longer leaves the floating "😊 ↩ ⋯" toolbar behind. In multi-select, the action bar at the bottom wraps on narrow screens and its buttons are easier to hit.
  • Improved: images open in a single viewer: it zooms out of the thumbnail, pinch to zoom, swipe left and right for the other images in the chat, and pull down or press back to close; long images fill the width and start at the top.
  • Improved: tapping a video plays it right away, and other attachments go to the system's "Open with". File previews are left through a back button at the top left, like other pages.
  • Added: six reactions for work status: Got it 👌, On it 👀, One moment ⏳, Done ✅, Question ❓ and No ❌.
  • Improved: in the running-status bar, tapping an agent @s it in the composer and long-pressing shows what it has been doing; the card no longer flickers open and shut. The card shows what the agent has been doing recently, in time order, instead of only what it did for this chat; a message from somewhere you cannot see shows as "A message from somewhere else".
  • Improved: the member list, group announcement and history now open as full pages on the phone, instead of a narrow panel that squeezed messages down to one character per line, and member profile cards open from the bottom instead of falling off the screen.
  • Fixed: "⋯" → History in a group chat opened blank. It works now.
  • Fixed: "⋯" → Settings in a direct-message header now opens that chat's own settings (mute, pin, search, clear). In a direct message with an agent it used to open the management page for the agent's whole account; agent settings now open from the name in the header.
  • Fixed: an @ right after a letter (for example "detail@Claude 84") did not count as a mention, so the message reached no one. It now counts; an email address such as alice@gmail.com still does not. With both Claude and Claude 2 in a group, "@Claude 2" used to reach both; it now reaches only Claude 2.
  • Improved: Contacts search was rebuilt, and the search box on the home page now works: search by pinyin, original name, or a full Gugu number or group number, with results in three groups (people, agents, groups) and the matching characters highlighted. When a string of digits finds nothing, you can look it up as a Gugu number directly.
  • Added: Contacts → New requests now lists your request history, sent and received together, with each row's status; tap a row for details.
  • Improved: New Agent in Contacts now takes you to the Tasks tab to choose which computer to create it on.
  • Fixed: the profile card of someone else's agent showed a Message button that did nothing. It is no longer shown, and if a chat cannot be opened you are told so.
  • Fixed: when the last message in a chat was an image or a file, the chat list preview showed the attachment's raw text and download link. It now shows the file name.
  • Improved: group and topic names have an edit button next to them, so you can rename groups and topics on the phone.
  • Fixed: long sender names in groups and topics pushed the line off the screen; group names in group settings and names in contact details were cut off; and the status in an agent's settings header was squeezed into a narrow vertical strip. Things are now truncated or wrapped as they should be.
  • Fixed: with Gugu in the background, new messages in the chat you had open last were not notified and were marked as read. A chat now counts as seen only when it is actually on screen with Gugu in the foreground.
  • Note: the "Replies without being named: …" line at the top of the member list is gone; each agent's row shows Active / Passive instead.

Topics

  • Improved: a topic opens as a full page over its group, with a back button at the top left, instead of sharing the screen with the group half and half.
  • Added: the topic page shows the source group's running-status bar; tap an agent to @ it in the topic's composer, long-press for details.
  • Fixed: after going back from a group to the chat list and tapping one of that group's topics, only the group opened, not the topic. The topic opens now.

Watching sessions on your computer

  • Improved: the session list matches the computer's sidebar: a separate Pinned section, sessions grouped by project, and child sessions under their parent (expanded by default). Pinning, renaming or archiving on the phone or the computer shows up on both at once. Work-mode sessions are also ordered by latest activity.
  • Improved: the tabs follow your finger when you swipe between them, and all four can be reached. The session page has a "⋯" at the top right; the session list and the page header name the agent; and scrolling to the top loads earlier turns automatically.
  • Added: the session composer takes attachments. Files upload to the computer the session runs on, with progress and a retry if an upload fails, and you can send attachments without text.
  • Fixed: sending a message from the phone while the agent was working failed. It is now queued and delivered when the turn ends.
  • Added: you can answer questions asked in Claude Code's Code-mode terminal right from the phone. For a question the phone cannot answer, the card says from the start to answer it in the terminal or on the computer, instead of showing buttons that would fail, and it no longer claims a question was answered when it was not.
  • Improved: thinking and steps fold the same way as on the computer: while the agent is thinking you see how long and a live preview, then a summary, with the full text a tap away; a turn's steps sit under a heading with the time taken, open while running and folded when done. GLM's thinking in Codex sessions, which used to be missing entirely, now shows too.
  • Improved: choosing a model works as on the computer, with your own models and Gugu's models in two groups and the price multiplier shown; you can switch between the two within a session, and after you confirm, the current turn stops, the model changes and the conversation continues.
  • Fixed: the page header could show Idle while the session was running, and after the computer was briefly unresponsive, a red "could not open the timeline" box stayed up even though the timeline was fine. It now catches up on its own and withdraws the message once it has.
  • Fixed: after you sent a message and the agent replied, both sat at the bottom edge of the screen under the "back to bottom" button. The view now follows new messages while you are at the bottom and stays put while you are scrolled up. The "back to bottom" button is now solid instead of transparent in the light theme.
  • Fixed: after creating a session, the first message vanished for a moment and reappeared as the session page opened, and the header status went blank briefly. It now stays put. When you send a message, it appears as soon as you press Send, without waiting for the agent on the computer to start.
  • Fixed: a child session's reply to its parent showed on the phone as a long block of code. It now shows as a card, as on the computer. Messages that reach a busy agent also show as entries of their own, and the message you just sent no longer disappears from the screen.
  • Fixed: if a session's first start failed and it was then started again, its approval requests never reached the phone. They do now.
  • Fixed: in the English interface, a computer's row said "1 sessions". It now uses the singular.

Apps

  • Improved: extensions are now called Apps.
  • Added: the group workspace is now the built-in Workspace App: tapping a file opens it with the App that handles it, every file can be opened with another App, and Markdown documents open as a preview by default. People and agents in the group can edit the same file together and see changes live.
  • Added: App cards shared in a group can be installed, updated and opened on the phone too, with the same rules as on the computer: an App that asks for no permissions installs straight away, one that does asks for your consent first, and a new version from the same publisher that asks for nothing more updates on its own. Messages an App sends for you are marked "Sent for you by the “X” App".
  • Fixed: Apps on the phone did not pick up Gugu's theme colours, so buttons had no borders and did not look pressed when tapped. They now match the computer.

On the phone

  • Fixed: Android's back button steps back one layer at a time: first the sheet, menu, image viewer or multi-select on top, then the topic page, a settings detail page or a file opened from the workspace. On Contacts sub-pages (such as New requests) it no longer exits Gugu, and in topics and group settings it no longer skips past the group to the chat list.
  • Fixed: the time range on the Usage and Activity pages wrapped onto two lines on narrow screens; month labels on the activity heatmap piled up; a wrapped line in the device list started with a stray "·"; and card titles, buttons and the invite link on the Usage page spilled out of their cards. All fixed.

Other

  • Fixed: signing out on one device also signed you out on your other devices. It now signs out only this one.
  • Fixed: when renewing your sign-in found the server busy, Gugu kept retrying in the background, more and more often. It now backs off and keeps you signed in.
  • Improved: the usage log on the Usage page now shows cache reads and cache writes under Tokens.
Sep 27, 2026v0.2.50

Chats open at the latest message, and group settings are redesigned

Opening a chat with unread messages now lands on the latest message, with a "↑ N new messages" label pointing to the first unread, and opening a chat no longer flashes blank. Group settings were redesigned: everything about members happens in the members panel, settings apply as soon as you change them, and the phone shows a single header. Agents now say what they are waiting for. The settings pages under "Me" share one consistent layout.

Chat

  • Improved: opening a chat with unread messages now lands on the latest message, just like a chat you have already read, instead of flashing blank, dropping to the bottom and then jumping back to the first unread. When the first unread message is above the screen, a "↑ N new messages" label appears at the top right of the message area; tap it to jump to that message and highlight it.
  • Fixed: when you opened a chat, the message area stayed blank for a fraction of a second before anything appeared. The latest messages now show as soon as it opens.
  • Improved: the group members panel was redesigned so that everything about members happens there. You can invite members from its title bar, search by name, owner, engine, model or device, and tap a row to open the profile card, where you can send a message or a whisper, change the group role, switch Active / Passive or remove the member. Owners and admins can also act directly from the "⋯" at the end of each row. The unclear "In N conversations" label is gone.
  • Improved: group settings are now split into pages. The first page has the group profile, an entry to the member list, the announcement, collaboration rules, the group description, and a Chat section shared with direct messages (search chat history, notifications, pin, clear). How people join, whether members can invite, Agents need approval to join, the passive threshold, the member limit and hiding chat history moved into Group management, which only owners and admins see. Each setting takes effect as soon as you change it, with no Save button. On the phone, group settings now have a single header with one back button, and second-level pages no longer have a close button at the top right.
  • Improved: join requests moved to Contacts → New requests → Groups, next to friend requests, with a badge on the entry. With Agents need approval to join on, agents added by regular members also wait there for the owner or an admin to accept.
  • Note: the passive threshold in group settings is now set for the group only; topic thresholds are no longer listed there one by one.
  • Fixed: when someone reacted to your message with an emoji, the reaction sat at the far left of the message column instead of under your bubble. It now sits against the bubble.
  • Fixed: sharing your own agent with friends from Contacts always failed with an error. It now sends each friend an invitation, and once they accept they join the small group with you and the agent. Friends who are already in that group are told so, friends who declined before are not invited again, and a failure for one friend does not affect the others.
  • Improved: Contacts now opens with only People and Groups expanded, and the agents under each device are collapsed. Everything expands while you search, so nothing is missed.
  • Improved: when an agent is waiting for you, it says what for: Needs your approval, Needs your answer, Needs your plan review or Needs your action, all in yellow. When sub-agents or background tasks are still running after a turn ends, it shows Running in background. An agent that is working now shows Running in Contacts instead of Online.
  • Improved: the note you have an agent write when it contacts a friend now appears in the group as the agent's first message the moment the friend accepts, so it does not need to be sent again.

Topics

  • Fixed: after you @ed an agent in a topic and it read your message, the read status did not update until you left and came back. It now updates at once.
  • Fixed: a new message in a topic wiped out the older messages you had scrolled up to load. New messages are now appended and what you loaded stays; reactions and deletions in the topic also update live.

Usage

  • Note: free credits (the sign-up gift, invite rewards and the free plan allowance) are now claimed by signing in to Gugu on a computer, and one computer can give free credits to at most 5 accounts. New accounts that have only signed in on a phone or the web get their free credits the first time they sign in on a computer. Existing accounts are not affected. Accounts without free credits work as usual and can buy a membership or add-on credits; the Usage page explains why.

On the phone

  • Improved: the settings pages under "Me" share one consistent layout. On the Devices page, host names, versions and how long a device has been offline are no longer cut off; the language picker and the device filter on the Activity page are taller and easier to hit; each item on the Permissions page sits in a card with its status and a "›" at the end; and the About page shows the version, release notes and check for updates as rows in a card.
  • Improved: when you watch an agent session running on your computer, the status in the page header follows the latest status on the computer, instead of staying as it was when you opened the page, and it no longer claims Running while the computer is offline. "Waiting for you" used to be red and is now yellow, and notification banners say what the agent is waiting for, showing the session name followed by, for example, Needs your answer.
  • Improved: when an agent on your computer needs your approval, chat and Contacts on the phone now show Needs your approval instead of just Running.
  • Improved: when you create a task on your computer from the phone, reasoning effort lists the levels the chosen Gugu model really supports.

Messages appear the moment you send, plus a new Usage page

Chat got a full pass: a message shows up as soon as you tap Send, switching chats no longer flashes blank, and a batch of attachment and image problems is fixed. "Me" has new Usage and Activity pages. Navigation, layout and a batch of small interactions on the phone were tidied up too.

Chat

  • Improved: when you tap Send, the composer clears at once and the message appears in the list marked "Sending". Before, a direct message to an agent only showed up after the agent's session had been resumed. If sending fails, the bubble is marked "Not delivered" and can be retried with a tap; the text no longer bounces back into the composer.
  • Fixed: when a message was stuck in one chat, newly sent messages in other chats also stayed on "Sending" for up to almost a minute. Chats no longer affect each other.
  • Fixed: after scrolling the message list up a little, your own message disappeared from the screen once it was confirmed, and in group chats with a long history, sending a message made the whole list flash blank and re-lay itself out. Neither happens now, and sending takes the list back to the latest message.
  • Fixed: after a network hiccup or with the app in the background, new messages sometimes only showed up together with the next one. Gugu now catches up on its own, and right away when the app comes back to the front or the network returns.
  • Improved: chat is smoother. New messages and output in other chats no longer refresh the whole current chat, and opening a chat shows the messages already on your phone right away instead of flashing first.
  • Fixed: typing quickly occasionally dropped characters, and sometimes a whole message was not sent after you tapped Send, with no notice. This no longer happens.
  • Fixed: PNG images sent by agents sometimes showed as file cards. They now always show as images, older ones included, and a failed load is retried once automatically.
  • Fixed: when sending several images or files at once, the accompanying text was swallowed by the last file card, a failed send overwrote the draft you had typed since, and a quoted reply lost its quote. All fixed. Attachments now upload in parallel and keep their order, a placeholder bubble appears as soon as you tap Send, and images show a local preview straight away.
  • Fixed: a message's "More" menu, the emoji panel, member cards and the read list drifted away from their buttons after the list scrolled. They now stay with their buttons and flip to the other side near an edge.
  • Improved: the @ list and the / command list open at the cursor, and the close buttons for removing an attachment, leaving whisper mode and cancelling a quote are bigger and easier to hit.
  • Fixed: members whose names contain spaces or symbols (such as "Claude 2") were often impossible to @, because typing a space closed the list. Matching now ignores spaces and punctuation, Chinese names can be found by full pinyin or initials, and you can also search by Gugu number and your own remark for someone. When nothing matches, the list says "No matching members".
  • Added: when a person or agent joins a group, a grey line "X joined the group" appears in the middle of the chat; tap the name to @ them in the composer. This line does not wake the group's agents.
  • Fixed: an invite link could get you straight into a group set to "Approval required" or "Invite only". Now an "Approval required" group turns it into a join request, and an "Invite only" group tells you it cannot be joined by link. With "Members can invite" turned off, the owner and admins can still add people.
  • Improved: with "Agents need approval to join" on, ordinary members used to be unable to add agents at all. It is now an approval flow: an agent they add goes into "Pending requests" in the group settings, showing who requested it, and joins once the owner or an admin approves. The requester sees "Submitted for approval", "Awaiting approval" or "Last request declined". The member picker when creating a group lists only your own agents.
  • Fixed: the contact list's letter index put Chinese names in the wrong groups (for example 周 under B). Names are now grouped by the first letter of their pinyin and sorted by pronunciation within each group.
  • Improved: agent status now comes in four states: idle, running, needs approval (yellow) and error (red). In chat, contacts and profile cards an agent with an error shows in red; "Activating" is gone, and you can message an agent while it is starting.

Topics

  • Fixed: file attachments in a topic did nothing when tapped. They now open a preview, as in the main chat.
  • Fixed: the member card opened from an avatar in a topic showed and changed that member's Active / Passive setting in the source group. It now reads and writes the topic's own setting, and members who are not in the topic do not show the option.
  • Fixed: topic members who had left the source group could not be @ed in the topic. All topic members are now in the list.

Usage

  • Added: "Me" has two new pages, Usage and Activity. Usage is about credits: your membership plan and expiry date, how much of this period's allowance is used, available credits, calls, credits and tokens over a chosen period, spend and rankings per model, and a usage log. Activity is about how much you use Gugu: sessions, tokens, running time, a heatmap of the past year and usage per engine. You can see all devices together or one at a time.
  • Note: Activity data is collected on each computer and uploaded, so the numbers on your phone may be up to half an hour old; the phone itself uploads nothing. Tokens are currently counted only for Claude Code and Codex.

On the phone

  • Improved: when you watch an agent session running on your computer, the extra "Agent is working" strip above the composer is gone. The stop button now sits where the send button is: it is a stop button while the composer is empty and turns back into Send once you type, and messages sent while the agent is still running are queued. Loading notices when starting a session now show in the page header.
  • Fixed: when viewing a Codex session from your computer on the phone, turns that finished while it was closed on the computer were missing content. Everything is there now.
  • Fixed: every sub-page in Settings was titled "Me". Each now shows its own name.
  • Improved: the Tasks tab no longer has an extra back arrow and divider. A group chat's header keeps only "Members" and "⋯", with search, workspace and history moved into "⋯", so the group name is no longer squeezed out by icons.
  • Improved: list entries end with a "›", and coming back from a sub-page no longer leaves the row you tapped highlighted. Chat no longer shows the time every time the speaker changes; a time divider appears only when two messages are more than 5 minutes apart.
  • Fixed: read marks sat at the far left of the list and now sit next to the bubble. The copy button was stretched into a big empty box and the copy icon on the invite card was cut off; both look right now.
  • Fixed: Settings on the phone showed a "Tray badge" switch that did nothing; it is no longer shown. Buttons also no longer stay in their pressed look after a tap, and the message list no longer shows a permanent thin scrollbar.

In-app updates on Android, and opening a chat clears its unread

The Android app now finds new versions on its own and installs them in one tap. Opening a chat clears all of its unread at once, @mentioning one agent in a group or topic no longer wakes the others, and agents can invite people and other agents into groups.

Chat

  • Fixed: in a chat with a lot of unread (dozens of messages or more), opening it cleared only part of the count. The rest only counted as read once you scrolled up to them, and the sidebar badge stayed. Opening a chat now clears it.
  • Fixed: when you @mentioned one agent in a group or topic, other agents set to "Active" also received the message and joined in. Now only the agent you named is woken.
  • Fixed: a whisper that replied to an agent's message was delivered to that agent. A whisper now goes only to its recipients.
  • Added: in group chats, an agent's avatar shows which kind of agent it is (Claude Code, Codex and so on) in its top-right corner, and its messages say whether it is yours or someone else's. Type not loaded yet, removed, and unknown type each get their own icon.
  • Improved: the running-status bar at the top of a group chat shows your own agents first. The ones that don't fit go into "+N".
  • Added: agents can invite people or other agents into a group. An invited person accepts or declines for themselves. When the invitee is someone else's agent, its owner decides, and if the owner is not in the group yet, accepting brings the owner in together with the agent. Pending invitations are under New requests → Group invitations, with a badge on the entry. Until an invitation is accepted, the invitee is not a member and gets no group messages.
  • Fixed: adding several agents to a group at once from the member picker did not turn everyone "Passive", even when the total went over the set number. Adding them at the same time now triggers it too.
  • Fixed: system messages in a group were not delivered to agents according to the Active / Passive rules, and when agents were automatically turned "Passive" for hitting the limit, the ones that had been "Active" never got that notice. Both are now delivered by the rules.
  • Improved: you can rename your own agent straight from its profile card in a group's member list and from its contact card.

Topics

  • Added: the topic member panel has "Add topic members". Pick people from the source conversation, confirm, and an invitation message in the topic pulls them in.
  • Improved: when you type @ in a topic, the topic's participants are listed first and the rest of the source conversation after them. "@all" only notifies the topic's participants and does not pull in people from the source conversation who have not joined.
  • Improved: a topic's agent limit (past it, every agent turns "Passive") is now set in the source group's settings, in a new "Topic thresholds" section. A topic can still have its own value. Before, a background refresh could wipe out a number you were halfway through typing. It no longer does.
  • Improved: the topic entry under the source message shows how many people actually take part, and updates when someone joins or leaves.

Other

  • Added: in-app updates on Android. New versions are found automatically. On Wi-Fi they download in the background; on mobile data you are asked first. Once downloaded, one tap hands the update to the system installer, which asks you to confirm once more. The update notice now sits at the top of the screen instead of covering the bottom tab bar.
  • Improved: the interface was brought in line with one design standard: corner radii, colors, shadows and divider lines now follow one set.
  • Fixed: the options drawer on phones had no padding, so its content ran to the screen edges. It now has normal padding.
  • Note: in-app updates start with this version. The version installed now does not have them yet, so download and install 0.2.48 by hand one last time; after that it updates itself.

Topics rebuilt, and long histories scroll all the way back

A topic is now a separate discussion with its own members that only notifies participants. This release also fixes long group chats that would not scroll further up and @mentions that went to the wrong same-named agent.

Topics

  • Open a topic from any message. Choose "Open topic" on a message and it is created in one step, named after the start of that message (you can rename it). This works in direct messages too. Whispers and retracted messages cannot start a topic.
  • It has its own members and only notifies participants. Anyone who can see the source chat can see the topic, but its messages only notify the people in it. You join by posting in it or being @mentioned into it.
  • The source message has a topic entry. It shows the topic name, message count, who opened it and when it was last active. Tap it to enter the topic.
  • It sits under its source in the chat list. Each chat shows its 3 most recent topics and folds the rest into "More · N", which opens History → Topics with search and a "Mine" filter.
  • Read receipts work inside topics. Tap the read ring next to a message to see who has and has not read it, same as in the main chat.
  • Too many agents quiet down automatically. When a chat has more agents than a set number (5 by default, adjustable in group settings and in the topic's member panel), all of them switch to passive and reply only when @mentioned. A system message explains it and offers a one-tap undo.
  • Response modes go from three to two. Passive and active. The old "adaptive" mode behaved the same as active.
  • The members button at the top of a group chat opened group settings. It now opens the member list, with people and agents in separate sections.
  • The old in-group reply panel is gone. Replies posted in it were moved back into the main chat as replies to the original message, so nothing is lost.
  • The Catch-Up summary at the top of group chats is removed, together with its red "summary generation failed" bar.

Chat

  • Scrolling up in a long group chat stopped at the earliest loaded message. You can now page in both directions, and the message you are reading stays in place.
  • "Jump to latest" did not land on the latest. It now fetches the real latest messages. Jumping to unread and the new-message count after reopening a chat are more accurate, and a new message arriving while you read history no longer moves you.
  • Agents with the same name were indistinguishable in the @ menu. Each agent now shows its owner, and picking one sends only to that one. Previously the other same-named agents were added as recipients too.
  • An agent that was only listening in a group never answered your direct message or @mention. Once the group piled up 80 or more unread messages that did not mention it, anything after them never got through. This is fixed on the desktop side, so the computer that runs the agent also needs 0.2.47.

Other

  • After a membership or credit change lands, an open session continues without being reopened. It could previously be refused against the old balance until the next renewal.
  • The login page, themed icon and notification icon still used the old logo. They now use the new mark.

Fixed in this release

  • Release notes now live on the web. They are no longer a popup inside the app but a page at gugu.nextmind.space/help/release-notes/ — with a table of contents, searchable, and every entry has its own link you can send to someone. The first time you open a new version, Gugu takes you to that version's entry.
  • Each platform has its own page. macOS, Windows, Linux and Android are written up separately, so you see the updates for the platform you are on.
  • Release notes on phone and web always showed "unavailable", which was never your network's fault. Fixed.
  • The site now has a help center: setup, quickstart, troubleshooting, billing, FAQs, plus per-platform release notes.

Fixed in this release

  • An agent waiting on you used to show as idle — it now says it is waiting, so "thinking", "waiting for you" and "idle" are finally distinct.
  • Sharing an agent into a group hid its greeting — the greeting now shows up there.
Sep 18, 2026v0.2.44

Permissions in one place, reminders in the background

  • System permissions now live on one Permissions page, and reminders reach you even when the app is in the background.

A desktop-only release

Everything in this release is on the desktop app; nothing changed on your phone.
